First is through Google search settings, followed by Chrome extension, and via experimental Chrome flags. I have explained all three methods below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Through_Google_Search_Settings\"><\/span>1. Through Google Search Settings<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Google started testing the dark mode last year in December. Back then, the feature was rolled out only to a few users. After successful testing, it got rolled out for everyone. You might also have got a notification for it while performing a Google search saying, &#8220;<strong>Dark Theme is now available, Turn it on for a comfortable reading experience while you search<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"463\" height=\"109\" src=\"https:\/\/browsertouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Dark-Theme-is-now-Available.png\" alt=\"Dark theme is now available\" class=\"wp-image-2944\" srcset=\"https:\/\/browsertouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Dark-Theme-is-now-Available.png 463w, https:\/\/browsertouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Dark-Theme-is-now-Available-300x71.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 463px) 100vw, 463px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The notification brings up two options- <strong>No Thanks<\/strong> and <strong>Turn On<\/strong>. If you select Turn on, the dark mode will be enabled in the Google search. The very last option will be a <strong>Dark theme: Off<\/strong>. However, considering a large number of Google search users, it&#8217;s possible a few of you might not have got it on your computer. Anyways, those who can&#8217;t wait can enable dark mode by using Chrome extensions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many Chrome extensions let you enable dark mode not just in Google search but also on any website you visit. Two of the popular extensions are Dark reader and Dark Theme for Chrome. If you need help in adding these extensions, follow the below steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong>: Go to <a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/category\/extensions?hl=en-GB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chrome Web Store<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong>: In the search bar, type <strong>Dark reader<\/strong> or <strong>Dark Theme for Chrome<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/browsertouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Chrome-Dark-Mode-Extension-1024x310.png\" alt=\"Dark Reader\" class=\"wp-image-871\" width=\"622\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/browsertouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Chrome-Dark-Mode-Extension-1024x310.png 1024w, https:\/\/browsertouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Chrome-Dark-Mode-Extension-300x91.png 300w, https:\/\/browsertouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Chrome-Dark-Mode-Extension-768x232.png 768w, https:\/\/browsertouse.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Chrome-Dark-Mode-Extension.png 1100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong>: On the Extensions page, tap on <strong>Add to Chrome<\/strong> to add the extension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4<\/strong>: Once you have successfully added one of the recommended extensions, you&#8217;ll be able to see their icon in the extension bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 5<\/strong>: To enable dark mode, visit google.com and tap on the extension icon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is how you can get dark mode in Google search by adding a Chrome Extension. You can keep using the extension until you get the dark theme option in Google Search itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_By_Enabling_Chrome_Flags\"><\/span>3. By Enabling Chrome Flags<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don&#8217;t want to add an extra extension to get the dark mode in Google Search, you can resort to Chrome flags. All you need to do is enable the Chrome flag called <strong>Force Dark Mode for web content<\/strong> which forces dark mode on all web content. It&#8217;ll darken not only the Google search but also all other websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, even when you have enabled dark mode in Google search, you might have noticed that it&#8217;s just the search results page that appears in dark mode. You still get normal white mode on most of the websites you visit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is simply because Google has added the support for dark mode in its search engine, but the websites you visit haven&#8217;t got the support for dark mode. In the search bar, type <strong>chrome:\/\/flags\/<\/strong> and hit enter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong>: On the Chrome Flags page, search for &#8220;force dark mode.&#8221; Among the results, you will see the flag &#8220;Force Dark Mode for Web Contents.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong>: <strong>Enable <\/strong>the flag and restart the Chrome browser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will get the dark mode everywhere, including the search results page and websites you visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Final_Words-_Enjoy_Dark_Mode_in_Google_Search\"><\/span>Final Words- Enjoy Dark Mode in Google Search<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dark Mode is a very useful feature to have in the apps and websites we regularly use.
