TheSecret Mode in the Samsung browser is similar to the incognito mode available on Chrome and other browsers. However, it has much more to offer than vanilla incognito.


It lets you browse the web privately without leaving any traces. All your browsing history, cache, cookies, and passwords will be cleared upon exit. However, the web pages you bookmark in Secret Mode will be retained and appear only when enabled.

Furthermore, you can secure the Secret Mode by adding a password lock, making it completely safe from unauthorized access. If you want to know how to turn on or off this private mode in the Samsung browser, keep reading further.

How to Turn On Secret Mode in Samsung Internet

Method 1- Turn on Secret Mode from the New Tabs menu

Step 1: Open Samsung Internet on your phone.

Step 2: Click on the New tab in the bottom menu.

Step 3: On the new tab page, tap Turn on Secret Mode, located in the bottom left corner.

Method 2- Add Secret Mode Toggle to Menu

You can also add a quick shortcut for the Secret Mode to access it quickly from the menu on Samsung Internet. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Open Samsung Internet on your phone and tap the Menu button.

Step 2: Click on Settings and then Layout and Menu.

Step 3: On the Layout and menu page, click on Customise menu.

Step 4: Here, drag and drop the Turn on Secret Mode toggle in the menu. You can also customize the menu options according to your choice.

Step 5: Now, go back to the Samsung Internet home screen and tap the Menu button.

Step 6: Click on Turn on Secret Mode to enable it in the Samsung Internet browser.

For obvious reasons, you can’t capture screenshots when in Secret Mode.

Turn Off Secret Mode in Samsung Internet

You can disable the Secret Mode and exit to normal browsing on Samsung Internet whenever you’re done with the private browsing session. Check the methods detailed below.

Method 1- Exit Secret Mode From The New tab

Step 1: In the Secret Mode, tap the New tab button at the bottom.

Step 2: On the new tab page, click Turn off Secret mode, located in the bottom left corner.

You will now return to normal browsing mode.

Method 2- Turn off Secret Mode from Menu

For this method, you have to add the Secret Mode toggle to the menu options. We have mentioned the steps for that above.

Step 1: Click on the menu button in the bottom right corner inside the Samsung internet browser.

Step 2: If you have added the Secret Mode toggle, you will see the Tap on Secret mode option. Tap it.

Ster 3: After that, you will be returned to regular browsing mode.

Add New Tabs in Secret Mode

Step 1: While in Secret Mode, click on the Tabs icon.

Step 2: On the Tabs page, click on New Tab.

Step 3: Doing so will open a new tab in Secret Mode. You can switch between tabs by opening the Tab menu.

Add Password Lock to Secret Mode

Samsung Internet offers you to add a password lock to the Secret Mode. This would prevent others from viewing the pages or bookmarks in your private browsing session.

By default, the browser will prompt you to add a lock the first time you enable Secret Mode. However, if you missed it, follow the steps below to set password lock in Secret Mode settings:

Step 2: Click on the three-button menu and then the Secret mode settings.

You can keep biometrics enabled to unlock it using your fingerprint.
