Microsoft’s Bing AI chatbot is among the best implementations of AI search engines. But in typical Microsoft fashion, it is only available on the Edge browser. And people using other browsers like Chrome and Brave don’t get to enjoy the AI prowess of Bing chat. Luckily there are workarounds to this issue, and in this article, we will address them as we discuss six ways to enable and use Bing AI Chat on Google Chrome.
How to Enable and Use Bing AI Chat in Google Chrome?
When you try to use Bing’s Chat feature on Google Chrome, it will ask you to download Microsoft Edge. To overcome this issue, we have curated a list of methods that consist of extensions and other working solutions. But before we jump into the list, you must ensure you have the following prerequisites to use Bing AI.
Prerequisites for Bing AI
Take a look below at the following requirements for using Bing AI on Google Chrome:
- A Microsoft account to use Bing AI. (Google account also works)
- Must have access to Bing AI Chat feature on Microsoft Edge with the same account.
Once you’ve ensured you meet the following requirements, you can proceed with the methods mentioned below.
Method 1- Use Bing Chat for All Browsers Chrome Extension
Bing Chat for All Browsers is currently the best opinion to get the AI-powered chatbot in your Chrome browser. Once you have installed the extension, you won’t be asked to download Edge and can continue using the AI chat in Google Chrome. The setup process is surprisingly simple.
Step 1: Download the Bing Chat for All Browsers extension from Chrome Web Store.
Step 2: Once downloaded, click on the extension icon on the Chrome toolbar.
Step 3: Select the Bing Chat for All Browsers extension.
Step 4: In the extension, click on Open Bing Chat button.
Step 5: Sign in with your Microsoft account that has access to Bing AI.
Step 6: Click on the Chat option under the Bing search bar to use the Bing AI Chat feature.
Now you can ask questions with the chatbot or ask it to create something new.
Method 2- Install Bing AI Extension in Chrome
Another extension that you can use is the Bing AI extension for to Chrome browser. The extension essentially adds a small window to use Bing AI. I find it to be the best way to use Bing Chat on Chrome as it lets you access the chatbot without having to switch tabs again and again. Here is how it works.
Step 1: Download the Bing AI extension from Chrome Web Store.
Step 2: Now, click on the extension icon on the Chrome toolbar.
Step 3: Click the thumb pin icon next to the Bing AI extension.
This will add the extension to the browser toolbar so you can easily launch it whenever required.
Step 4: To use Bing Chat, click the Bing AI extension icon.
It has both the Chat and the Compose features that are exclusively available on Edge.
Method 3- Get Search Results with Bing Chat (GPT-4) in Google Extension
Bing Chat (GPT-4) adds a small box in the Google search page and shows results to the query you have searched on Google. This way, you can enjoy the best of both worlds. You can also switch to Bing Chat for more refined answers with just a click of a button. This is how you use it.
Step 1: Download the Bing Chat (ChatGPT-4) in Google extension from Chrome Web Store.
Step 2: Search for something on Google.
You will notice a small window labeled Bing Chat on the right side.
Here you will find answers to your queries by Bing AI.

Microsoft is working towards adding Bing AI to all its popular products and services. This includes their popular video conferencing platform Skype. You can open Skype on Chrome and use the Bing Chat option available there. This method doesn’t include any extensions.
Step 1: Visit web.skype.com on Google Chrome.
Step 2: Select the option, Open Skype in your browser.
Step 3: Here, log in with your Microsoft account.
Step 4: Using the left sidebar, click on Bing.
This will let you create and have conversations with Bing AI.
The best part is unlike the version on Microsoft Edge, you can share images, and voice notes with Bing AI to get a response. There is also no prompt limit as of now.
Method 5- Enable Bing Chat on Chrome by Default (MacOS)
The extensions mentioned above modify the current user agents to get Bing Chat to work on Chrome. This can also be performed with a basic Terminal command which will launch Chrome with a different user agent. This will trick Bing AI into working on Chrome. Here are the steps to do so.
Step 1: Press Command + Spacebar on your Mac to launch Spotlight Search.
Step 2: In the search box, type Automator and open the app.
Step 3: In Automator, click on New Document.
Step 4: Next, select Application and then click on Choose to confirm.
Step 5: In the search bar above, type shell.
Step 6: Double-click on the result Run Shell Script.
This will open a shell box on the right side.
Step 7: Copy the command below and paste it in the shell box,
open -n -a “Google Chrome” –args “https://www.bing.com/search?q=Bing+AI&showconv=1&FORM=hpcodx” –user-agent=”Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_7) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/112.0.0.0 Safari/537.36 Edg/112.0.0.0″
Step 8: Click on Run to test the script. It should open Chrome with the Bing AI chat page.
The command opens Chrome with Microsoft Edge user agents to fool Bing’s website.
But it seems like Microsoft has patched this method, as in our tests, Bing did not allow us to use the AI chatbot.
Method 6- Enable Bing Chat on Chrome by Default (Windows)
You can perform the same spoofing method on Chrome for Windows. This requires you to change the user agent on Chrome using Inspect Element. This will trick Bing into thinking it is running on Chrome and allow us to use Bing Chat. Let’s take a look at the steps for this process.
Step 1: Open Chrome on your Windows PC.
Step 2: Press F12 or Right click on the new tab page and select Inspect.
Step 3: Click on the three-dot menu as shown in the image below.
Step 4: From the list of options, click on More Tools.
Step 5: Next, select Network conditions.
Step 6: Under User Agents, untick the box for Use browser default.
Step 7: Click on the box below.
Step 8: Select Microsoft Edge (Chromium) – Windows from the list.
Step 9: Head over to Bing.com to use the Bing AI chatbot.
When we tried to use Bing Chat with this method, it prompted us to Download Edge which means this method has also been patched by Microsoft. But you can try it for yourself.
