If you don’t want to use the experimental feature or are using Edge and Firefox browsers to use Google Docs, then you can install the Google Docs Dark Mode extension, which will convert the page theme to dark. Follow the below steps to install and use the extension on your browser.

Step 1: Open the Chrome Web Store on the browser.

Step 2: Search for Google Docs Dark Mode in the search box, then tap to open the extension page. If you are using Firefox, you must visit this page to download the same extension on your browser.
