GoDaddy users have been facing a weird issue for the past few weeks where they cannot log into their accounts due to an error. The error states, Your browser is a bit unusual when accessing the GoDaddy homepage but does not provide any information about what is causing it. Given there is no official fix from GoDaddy on this matter as of writing this article, we curated a list of twelve ways to fix the “Your browser is unusual” error in Google Chrome, Brave browser, Edge, and Firefox.

How to Fix “Your Browser is a Bit Unusual” GoDaddy Error?

Many users have reported Your browser is a bit unusual error when trying to access or login into GoDaddy. This has made it difficult for them to manage their domains or make new purchases.

We looked at the suggestions and other methods posted by the forum members and created a list of troubleshooting methods that might be able to fix this error and allow you to use GoDaddy again. Though these methods might not work for everyone, there is no harm in trying.

1. Clear Cache and Cookie Data

Every browser gathers cache and cookie data of websites you visit to make it easy to load them again. But over time, this collected data can get corrupted, causing problems with the browser. So it is best to clear it, especially when you face such error issues. You can also try this method on other browsers like Brave and Microsoft Edge.

Step 1: To clear the cache, click on the three-dot menu at the top right corner of Chrome.

Step 2: Go to More Tools and select Clear Browsing Data…

Step 3: Select all three options.

Note that clearing cookies will log you out of websites.

Step 4: Click on Time range and choose All time.

Step 5: Tap on Clear Data.

Once removed it will also free up some precious storage space and might be able to fix the issue with the GoDaddy website.

2. Enable Pop-Up and Redirects on Google Chrome

Pop-ups are disabled by default on Chrome so that websites don’t spam you with unnecessary popup ads. But GoDaddy uses a push method for coupons which might require popups to be enabled. This could be the reason the site is showing you the error.

Step 1: Visit the Godaddy website.

Step 2: Click on the padlock icon in the left corner of the address bar.

Step 3: Select Site settings.

Step 4: Scroll down and click on the box next to Pop-ups and redirects.

Step 5: Select the Allow option.

Go back to the website and refresh the page to see if the error persists.

3. Allow Third-Party Cookie Access

Just like other websites, GoDaddy also uses third-party cookies. According to some users, allowing these third-party cookies fixes the “Your Browser is a bit unusual” error and lets you log in to the website. As mentioned before, this method works on Chrome, Brave, and Edge.

Step 1: Open Chrome and click on the three-dot menu in the top right corner.

Step 2: Select the Settings option from the list.

Step 3: Go to the Privacy and Security option from the left sidebar.

Step 4: Open Cookies and other site data.

Step 5: Here, select Allow all cookies.

Once you have granted access to third-party cookies, you can go back and check whether the issue was resolved.

4. Open GoDaddy in Incognito for Chrome

Opening a site in an Incognito window often bypasses any issues and errors as the Incognito mode is a separate instance from the standard window, and all installed extensions and plugins do not work there. So you can try visiting the GoDaddy website in the Incognito window.

Note that Incognito mode is often called Private or InPrivate window on other browsers.

Open Incognito Window in Chrome

Step 1: Click on the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the browser.

Step 2: Select New Incognito Window.

A new Incognito mode tab will open up where you can try opening the GoDaddy website.

If the site normally opens here, this indicates that an extension may be installed on your browser.

5: Use the Safeguard Mode in Firefox

Safeguard mode in Firefox essentially works as the Safe mode. In the Safeguard mode, all the add-ons, plugins, themes, and custom settings are disabled temporarily. This offers an almost out-of-the-box browser experience, so the website should work here normally.

Step 1: Click on the three-line menu on the top right side.

Step 2: Go to Help.

Step 3: Select Troubleshoot Mode…

Step 4: In the confirmation box, select Restart.

Step 5: Choose Open on the next prompt.

Safeguard mode can also help you identify if an add-on on Firefox is affecting GoDaddy, just like the Incognito mode in Chrome.

6. Disable and Remove Extensions

Some extensions, like adblockers, may block important scripts required by the Godaddy website. In such cases, it is best to disable those extensions. And if it is not an important extension, then you should remove it from the browser, as it can cause other issues down the road.

Disable and Remove Extensions on Chrome

Step 1: Click on the extension icon located in the Chrome toolbar.

Step 2: Go to Manage Extensions.

Step 3: Turn off the toggle for the extensions that you want to disable.

Step 4: To delete the extension from your browser, click on Remove.

Step 5: In the confirmation prompt, select Remove again.

Disable and Remove Extension on Firefox

Step 1: Click on the three-line menu in the top right corner.

Step 2: Go to Add-ons and themes.

Step 3: Turn off the toggle for add-ons you wish to disable.

Step 4: To remove an extension, click on the three dots next to the add-on.

Step 5: Select the Remove option.

After removing the extension from your browser, open the Godaddy website to check if the error is gone.

7. Enable Javascript Permission on GoDaddy

According to several users, the error is caused because the browser fails to allow Javascript permission to the website, which is why this issue occurs. You can easily enable Javascript for the GoDaddy website from Site Settings.

Step 1: Open the GoDaddy website on Chrome.

Step 2: Click on the padlock icon in the left corner of the address bar.

Step 3: Go to Site settings.

Step 4: Scroll down to Javascript and click on the box next to it.

Step 5: Set it to Allow.

This will enable Javascript on the GoDaddy website. Go back and reload the page to see if the error is fixed.

8. Disable Brave Shield and AdBlocker

The Brave browser comes with a built-in adblocker enabled by default. It could be blocking the scripts required by the GoDaddy website from working properly. So you can try to turn off Brave Shield for the entire website to avoid blocking cookies, scripts, and other items.

Step 1: Go to the GoDaddy website and click on the Brave lion icon in the address bar.

Step 2: Disable the toggle for the Brave Shield as shown below.

Turning off the shield for Brave will allow cookies, script, and other blocked permission while disabling adblockers.

Add GoDaddy to the Filter List

If this method works for you, then you can whitelist GoDaddy by adding it to the filter list so that you don’t have to disable it every time you visit it.

Step 1: Visit The GoDaddy website and copy its URL.

Step 2: Click on the Brave Shield icon on the address bar.

Step 3: Next, click on Filter lists.

Step 4: Scroll down to Add custom filter lists.

Step 5: Paste the GoDaddy URL in the text field and click on Add.

The website will be added to the filter list, so the Brave Shield remains disabled whenever you visit that site.

9. Check for Updates in Chrome

Websites often drop support for older versions of the browser due to security reasons but also because older versions of the browser do not support new standards. So if you have been using Chrome, Edge, and Brave for a while and getting the “Bit Unusual error” on GoDaddy, then it is time for you to do so.

Step 1: Open Chrome and click on the three dots in the top right corner.

Step 2: Go to Help and then About Chrome.

Chrome will check for the latest available version and download it.

Step 3: Once downloaded, click on Relaunch.

After the relaunch, your browser will be updated.

Check if updating has resolved the GoDaddy error.

10. Change the PDF Settings in Chrome

This is quite an unorthodox method, but it has worked for some users, so if the above method is not helping, then you can try out this one. For this, you need to change how Chrome handles PDF files.

Step 1: On Chrome, click on the three-dot menu located at the top right side.

Step 2: Go to Settings.

Step 3: Click on Privacy and security from the left sidebar.

Step 4: Select Site Settings.

Step 5: Scroll down to Content and click on Additional content settings.

Step 6: Click on PDF documents.

Step 7: Here, select the option Open PDFs in Chrome.

This might help resolve the issue with GoDaddy. Do let us know if it did work out for you.

11. Disable VPN and Anti Virus Services

VPN and Anti Virus services often interrupt browsers and websites, causing such errors. If you are currently using a VPN, Proxy, or third-party anti-virus software on your computer, then we recommend you turn it off and try to access the Godaddy website.

12. Try Another Web Browser

If your current web browser is not working for you even after trying all the above methods, then it might be an issue related to your browser. Even though people have complained that switching browsers do not help, it did fix the issue for some users, so we recommend that you try using another web browser.
